Dolphin Bay and Sam Roi Yot National Park, Thailand

In April we went down the east coast of Thailand and spent a week at Dolphin Bay, within the Sam Roi Yot National Park. It's main town is Pranburi, which is only an hour or so south of popular Hua Hin. We fell in love with the place - it's the kind of place you'd think about buying a holiday home. Either way, it's a slow paced part of the world which is popular with families from Bangkok who come here to chill out. The beach isn't the best in Thailand but the surrounding karst mountains that tower over a sprinkling of temples is a welcome getaway from the noise and pollution of Bangkok. It's the kind of place that is developed just enough to make your stay comfortable but not overdeveloped enough to attract the back packing crowd. The coast is still populated by fishermen and inland is mainly coconut and prawn farms. There's lots to visit, such as caves, temples and you can take a boat trip down the river. The area is also famous for bird watching, so if you're a Twitcher, you should give this place a go.
